The 71b is a great vacuum that is simple to use and can be used almost anywhere. There are many uses for this vacuum and once you have it, you may wonder how you made it so long without it. This is one tough vacumn!! The suction is unbelievable. The bagless is a great feature. This is perfect for the car and for center rugs.Great for cleaning up dog hair that accumulates at odd little places around the house. It cleans like a large vacuum but it doesn’t heat up the room like most of the larger ones do. Taking out a large vacuum for a simple job can be a pain. So, if you are looking for a hand held vacuum to clean your car’s interior and small area of carpet, look no further. The Eureka 71b is little but it sucks up a ton of dust. Great for stairs and little disasters here and there. The flip up for the risers is great, and the attachment is convenient and easy to use too.The dirt collector is quite easy to clean. The filter is heavy-duty and very durable. It’s easily removed and reattached. Has a long electrical cord which is really convenient. Users love the fact that the visor rises to do the vertical part of the stairs and the crevice attachment is stored neatly underneath the vacuum.
This machine has VERY STRONG SUCTION power, and is easy to carry and hold. You will never go back to a battery power vacuum after using this little beast. Remember, cordless battery powered “quick pick-up” vacuums are known to die a quick death. The 71b is certainly better than any battery powered hand held vacuum cleaner as you don’t have to worry about batteries.
So what is the flip side?
For one, The hose is rather short, perhaps a foot long or so. It means that when vacuuming the car with the hose you’ll have to move this unit around or place it strategically. But you can always buy an extension.
Secondly, It’s fairly loud. Operating at 85 decibels is quite noisy. Then again, it’s powerful so perhaps it’s expected. Get a pair of heavy duty sound proof muffs for like 25 dollars on amazon and you should be fine.
Also, some folks find it somewhat heavy, when compared with the battery operated cordless vacuums.
Some people may wish there were upholstery wand and dusting tools included with the Eureka.
If any of these are a big no-no, you are better off looking at some of the other vacuums in the market. But it is hard to find another model which offers the combination of features of the Eureka 71b Vacuum. And most of all, priced under $40, it is great value for money.
